It is often better to use Freestanding Ziplines or Tree Ziplines to access islands and brings resources such as logs to the island. If the player builds a bridge of some kind, enemies CAN use it to access the island.
Occasionally, one or two mutants may spawn on some islands. Most of the time this will kill them within seconds though sometimes the game will 'bug out' causing them to be able to travel under water. However, occasionally they will try or glitch into the water. Islands are the safest places to build in the game as mutants and creepy mutants cannot swim or cross the water.
